I am committed to providing the highest standard of Obstetric care with a focus on evidence based medicine and current technology. Whilst my management plans are tailored to your needs & expectations, I will not compromise on the safety of you and your baby. I am an advocate of normal childbirth and also have the expertise in operative vaginal deliveries & cesarean sections.

Whilst most pregnancies are smooth, I am also skilled in the following:

  • Infertility, recurrent miscarriage and other preconception problems

  • Vaginal birth after caeserean section

  • Patient with complex Obstetric history (including previous stillbirth)

  • Obstetric patients with medical conditions (diabetes, thyroid disease, autoimmune disorders)
  • Poor previous Obstetric history
  • Elective caesarean section
  • Previous miscarriages caused by chromosomal anomolies
I also work with highly skilled anaesthetic & paediatric colleagues who are happy to attend when required.


Dr. Samiei-Sarir encourages you to contact her as soon as your pregnancy is confirmed to book in your first antenatal appointment time. The first antenatal visit is an opportunity for you to meet with Dr. Samiei-Sarir and she can start to get to know you.

You will need to bring with you:

  • The referral letter from your general practitioner and any relevant past medical information.
  • Any pathology and scan results that may be relevant.
  • Medicare and health fund details (if you are in a fund).
  • Initial visit: 8-10 weeks
  • 4 weekly until 28 weeks
  • Fortnightly until 36 weeks
  • Weekly until child birth

Dr. Samiei-Sarir uses the latest Ultrasound technology. You will get a bed-side ultrasound at every visit. If there any concerns you will be seen more frequently. Dr. Samiei-Sarir will guide you through your tests including:

Initial Blood Test

  • Full blood count
  • Ferritin
  • VDRL (test for syphilis)
  • Hepatitis B, Hepatitis  & HIV
  • Rubella Immunity
  • Blood Group & Antibody status
  • Varicella Zoster
  • Parvovirus
  • Thyroid test

11-14 Weeks

  • Optional Non-Invasive Pregnancy Test (NIPT) which is a new screening test for sex chromosone abnormality, Downs Syndrome (Trisomy 21), Trisomy 13 and 18
  • Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound (optional) screening for Downs Syndrome (Trisomy 21), Trisomy 13 and 18

18-20 Weeks

  • Detailed morphology ultrasound which can detect possible structural abnormalities.

26-28 Weeks

36-37 Weeks

  •  Vaginal swab-screening for Group B Streptococcal carriage
In the second half of you pregnancy, Dr. Samiei-Sarir will prepare you for the birth of your baby. She will discuss the labour and your preference for your baby's birth
